Biography / Biographie

Creating art is something I have always enjoyed.  Lately I have been doing sketches of places near my home and botanicals with black backgrounds. During Lent I write Pysanky. 

At the University of North Carolina at Asheville, I started out studying German and Art, but ended up only majoring in German because I spent so much time on art that I thought I would never finish college if I did both. 

I got my MA Ed in Modern Foreign Languages at the College of William and Mary in 2004. Then I went on to teach German at Phoebus High School in Hampton, VA for 2 years. Afterwards I moved back to Charlotte, NC and taught middle school Immersion German at the Smith Academy of International Languages. 

My husband and I moved back to his hometown of Nenzing in the summer of 2012. We had a daughter, Elisabeth (Lisile) in October 2012. She is awesome.

After she goes to bed most nights, I draw or paint. A friend commissioned me to do a painting of dandelions, which made me realise how much I would like to continue taking commissions.

Kunst zu machen hat mir immer schon Spaß gemacht. In der letzten Zeit mache ich viele Skizzen von Fotos von der Nähe. In der Fastenzeit mache ich Pysanky Eier. 

Als ich an der University of North Carolina at Asheville studiert habe, wollte ich Kunst und Germanistik studieren. Ich habe schlussendlich nur Deutsch studiert, weil ich viel zu viel Zeit für Kunst gebraucht habe. 

In 2004 habe ich mein MA Ed in Modern Foreign Languages von the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA bekommen. Danach habe ich Deutsch in Phoebus High School in Hampton, VA für zwei Jahre unterrichtet. In 2006 bin ich zurück nach Charlotte, NC umgezogen und habe Mittelschule "German Immersion" für sechs Jahre unterrichtet bei der Smith Academy of International Languages.

Mein Mann und ich sind im Sommer 2012 nach Nenzing umgezogen. Wir haben unsere Tochter, Elisabeth (Lisile) in Oktober 2012 bekommen. Sie ist phantastisch.

Wenn sie am Abend ins Bett geht, male ich normalerweise. Eine Freundin hat mir den Auftrag gegeben, Löwenzähne zu malen. Dadurch habe ich bemerkt wie gern ich das weiter machen möchte.
